Oklahoma’s best known homophobe joins Chick-Fil-A controversy

You can’t possibly be surprised that our state’s premier drama queen felt the need to weigh in on this pressing national issue with a press release calling for public demonstrations of moral outrage.

Kern Urges Oklahomans to Support Chick-Fil-A

OKLAHOMA CITY – State Rep. Sally Kern is urging Oklahomans to support Chick-Fil-A and to participate in the Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day event scheduled for next Wednesday.

“Chick-Fil-A is a company that has incorporated traditional values into its business model, the same values that a large majority of Oklahomans adhere to,” said Kern, R-Oklahoma City. “This is a company that respects its employees and customers and creates jobs for young people. The hate and intolerance they have been subjected to in the past week is astonishing, and I encourage Oklahomans to rally behind this company and show our support.”

Kern noted that voters overwhelmingly passed a state Constitutional amendment in 2004 that stated that prohibited same-sex marriage and declared marriage to be between one man and one woman.

“Seventy-six percent of Oklahoma voters believe that marriage is an institution for one man and one woman,” said Kern, noting the percentage of voters who approved the state question. “What the owner of Chick-Fil-A said is nothing controversial to Oklahomans.”

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has created the “Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day” Facebook page to encourage citizens across the nation to support the company by dining at their local franchises on August 1. So far, more than 290,000 people have indicated they plan on participating nationwide.

According to the company’s website, there are 13 locations across Oklahoma.

Maybe gay-friendly Okies need to stage their own actions at the restaurants next Wednesday, to give those who follow Kern’s advice a real show.

Just don’t buy anything.

I hope your paper will exhort your readers to get out and boycott that restaurant and show that homophobe how people REALLY feel.

I think Sally Kern is a racist and a bigot. This does not surprise me. I will never step foot in a Chick-fil-a ever again because of their close minded stance and values. I hope that many americans take the same approach. Being a photo journalist; I might make my way out to see if anyone take time to protest again this bigotry celebration event being held on wednesday.

And looking at the number 290,000 doesn’t even make a mark against the millions of americans that live in this country today.

It’s sad to know that most of the allied countries across the world are laughing with us in disgust as we still have to play victim to the oppression that the religious right is putting on the LGBT community.

This country was founded on freedom of or from religion, however you see it. Our founding fathers would be sick to see that religion has taken a toll on how we govern the people today.

Chick-fil-a is a good establishment . Why does it bother you so much the owner is anti gay. No one at his resturant has been refused service because of there sexual orientation. Sally Kerns is not a bigot. Just because someone is a traditional christian, believes marriage is between one man and women. That didn’t make someone a bigot. Ever wonder why marriage is so important to a traditional christian? It has nothing to do with the legal aspects of it. Its because marriage is a sacred contract between you, your spouse, and God. He layed out the instructions in black and white. Lastly stop trying to make the world accept being gay as normal. Its not… We live in america I don’t have to like seeing two guys kiss.. Thats allowed to bother me. I hate to say but I well never accept they as normal. So stop trying to force me to accept it. Do my views mean I hate gay people? No I fever gay friends. I don’t agree with there life style but there friends…
